Tristan & Chloé - Featuring Jan Dumée and Bobby Jacobs

Former Focus musicians & composers Bobby Jacobs (bass) and Jan Dumee (guitar) start their brand new Art-Rock group Tristan & Chloé - a project featuring Greek vocalist Maria Markesini.

Jacobs: "Although we also do several other projects in a wide variety of musical styles, we thought it was about time to play together again in a fixed band, since we have not played together in a band for more than 10 years now. Not just a one style band, but one with romance, lyrical and shrill melodies inspired by, among other flavours, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Impressionism. It is difficult for us to think and feel otherwise. We are 1st hand- raised kids of the so-called Focus School".

Dumee: "You have to imagine that the music of Thijs van Leer and Focus has always been pumped into our genes. Thijs has always regarded Bobby as his musical stepson, and me as a schoolmate of Bobby since the age of 15, I was always in the van Leer's musically and household, where the musical magic was scattered around us. My time in Focus has been very instructive, although I am also involved with completely different musical qualities in entirely different musical fields. Bobby and I have always been composers since we met each other in high school".

Jacobs: "During my time as a musician and producer in Focus, I composed a number of pieces. It was the same for Jan. They remained on the shelves, however. We have also composed new ones. With this new group, we have the opportunity to pick up and execute these jewels and of course with a unique sauce with brothers and sister-in-arms. The eclectic voice of the Greek singer Maria Markesini (also a virtuoso classical pianist) will play an important part, not only in the songs, but especially using her voice instrumentally. Furthermore we think with the input of our old school- and soulmates drummer Greg Smith and pianist/ organist Edwin Beekmans, the band has fully complimented our taste. We also invited some other fine guest players on our album, that is coming out hopefully soon!"


The album cover is designed by former Focus album art man Rob Peters who did “Ship of Memories” and the album from Thijs “O My Love” all from the ’70s.
