There are some new developments, again.
 
1. The new CD FOCUS 8 can be ordered directly through me.
It is a limited edition of 500 copies, numbered and signed by all band members.
The artwork is different from that of the "official" release, scheduled around late August/early September.
 
The costs are:
either US$.30 or Euro.30 or 15 UKP.
This includes shipment and 19% VAT.

with CARAVAN.

Subject: focus cd update

Goodday, Rodrigo,
 
I wanted to let you know that we finished recording the new FOCUS CD.
To get the best sound possible we recorded analog to digital.
Next week our soundman/co-producer Geert Scheygrond will mix and 
master the whole thing.
Release is to be expected around end of July/beginning of August.
I can tell you we are all very excited about this.
 
Distribution for Brazil and probably other South American countries 
shall go through Leonardo Nahoum´s label.
For other areas I have a variety of distribution companies. 
The way it looks most of it will be handled by Musea Records from France.
As soon as I get back from my vacation I shall contact you again 
with more news.

I visited saturday the last concert in Holland before they go to England and Brasil; it was fantastic, 
every week they get better; between the audience also was Rick van der Linden from Ekseption; I spoke 
to him, he just finished his new record; I will tell about it in the Focus guest-book when I have more 
details. End next month the new Focus record will be ready; when I have more info i will tell you.
Before the concert they did a sound check; Gitar player Jan Dumée went behind a large Steinway piano and 
Thijs behind his hammand and they both played a new number: VERY GOOD!!

We just changed drummer Ruben van Roon. He is replaced by Bert Smaak.
Bert played a.o. with Sally Oldfield (Mike O´s sister), Acoustic Alchemy (UK),
Tato Gomez, Mario Argandona, Phil Carmen, Lenny McDowell, Milva, 
Charlie Mariano and Miguel Rios. 
Last Friday we had our first concert with him. Amazingly enough he only had
2 days to study the Focus pieces, but played them perfectly! We are very happy
with him.
 
We added a great sound engineer to our entourage: Geert Scheijground.
Geert is also a very good guitarist who is a member of Dutch rock group
"Turbo" who where quite famous in the ´70s and recorded several albums.
This group got together again and just finished their first CD in 25 years.
Exceptionaly good! I´ll send you a copy for your own pleasure.
 
As far as concerts are concerned: they are very well received and we got
plenty of them.
 
I am currently negociating a tour of the UK where Focus will appear on a
double-billing with the John Lawton Band. It is scheduled for June or July
2002.
In addition I received 3 more offers for UK tours, all this year.
 
March 2003 Focus performs at the BAJA Festival in Mexicali, Mexico.
 
Between tours we will finish our CD. The way it looks now it is going to be
released shortly before this Summer. I chose an independent record company
from England called "Burning Shed". They sell a lot through the Internet, but
the album will also be released through specialised shops.

RE-JUVENATED FOCUS TO HEADLINE 2002 RIO ARTROCK FESTIVAL 

Early November recently re-newed Dutch Progrock group FOCUS 
(with a total of 5,5000,000 albums sold world-wide in the ´70s)
will depart on a 6 concert tour through Brasil. 
The main event being the Rio de Janeiro ARTROCK FESTIVAL.

Concerts in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Caracas & Santiago de Chile
are scheduled afterwards.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, we´ll do the end-mix of the first 4 recorded CD-pieces.

Subject: FOCUS IS BACK

I saw your FOCUS website. As the band´s manager/booking agent I thought you might be interested
to know the band is renewed and plans to be back on the road again.

After three try-outs in the Netherlands it is safe to say the audience is as enthused as ever
before.

Founder Thijs van Leer surrounded himself with three young musicians, all well-established in 
the Dutch music scene. The group´s current line up is:

Thijs van Leer, hammond organ/flute/vocals & yodeling. 
Jan Dumée, guitar/vocals
Bobby Jacobs, bass guitar
Ruben van Roon, drums/vocals

Reviews listed Jan as a "class guitarist" which should satisfy anyone who thought former lead
guitarist Jan Akkerman could not be replaced.

FOCUS as such was recognised for what it now is: "a very tight group of 1st rate musicians
playing masterfully crafted compositions".

On February 26 & 27 several songs for the first album in over 25 years shall be recorded.
