I have recently bought this new Van Leer album from a specialist CD supplier in this country (United Kingdom). They tell me it was released this year (April 2000), even though it appears to be a Christmas record. There is no date on the CD or cover to indicate when it was recorded or released. It features Thijs's two daughters Eva and Bernice Van Leer who both play the violin.

Most of the material is Christmas Carols but there are some familiar pieces. A new version of 'Rondo 1' (originally on the first Introspection Album ), 'Tango' (which appears on 'Introspection 4' and 'Focus' by TVL & JA) and 'House of the King'. There is also a new piece by Thijs called 'Fin de siecle'. This consist of snippets of 'Dayglow' (from 'Eruption' off 'Moving Waves'), 'Well Done' (a flute version of the vocal part from this section of 'Hamberger Concerto' ) and the closing section of 'Anonymous' (from 'In & Out of Focus'). These are all interwoven together with some new work by Thijs.

Graham Crawford.
